About
TwoSide exists because playing against a person in the same room is more fun than playing against a machine. It is a small site of twenty games, every one of them for exactly two players on a single device.
What makes it different
There is no computer opponent here and no online matchmaking. Each game needs two people sitting together. That is a limit, and it is deliberate. These are games for a sofa, a train table, a waiting room or the end of dinner.
How the games are built
Each one is a compact program that runs in your browser. The games where both people play at once respond the instant a finger touches the glass, and they can tell two touches apart, so neither player is kept waiting. On a touchscreen, the half of the screen facing the second player is rotated.
The turn-based games show clearly whose move it is. The games with secrets use a handover screen so that nothing is visible while the device is passed.
Names and scores
You can give the two players names. The site keeps a running tally of wins across every game, which turns twenty separate games into one long contest. All of it is held in your browser. We do not see it.
Free to play
The site costs nothing. It may show adverts, placed in the page away from the playing area. You can choose non-personalised adverts when asked. The privacy page explains more.
Fair play
Several games rely on one player not looking while the other makes a secret choice. We have made peeking awkward, but we cannot make it impossible on a shared screen. The games work best between people who would not want to win that way.
