About Air Hockey

Air Hockey turns your screen into a table. Each player has a round striker, there is one black puck, and there is a goal at each end. It is fast, physical and very hard to play quietly.

How a match works

Touch your half of the table and your striker follows your finger. It can go anywhere in your own half, but it stops at the centre line. The puck bounces off the side walls and the end walls. The goals are the dark bars in the middle of each end, a little over a third of the table's width.

Hit the puck with a moving striker and it flies off with the striker's speed added to its own. A stationary striker simply bounces it back. After each goal, the puck is placed on the side of the player who conceded, so they hit first.

Sitting and setting up

This game is made for a tablet or large phone lying flat, with a player at each end. Each of you uses one finger. On a computer, one player uses W, A, S and D and the other the arrow keys, though touch is much better.

How to win

Defend from the middle of your goal. Keep your striker a little way out from your own end, in front of the goal mouth, and return to that spot after every shot.

Use the walls. A puck sent straight down the table is easy to block. One banked off a side wall arrives at an angle and is much harder to read.

Hit through the puck. Speed comes from how fast your striker is moving at the moment of contact, so swing, do not poke.

Do not chase into the corners of your own half. It leaves the goal open.

Attack immediately after a save, while your opponent is out of position.

For two people and one tablet, few HTML5 games are as much fun.
